Creating a clearer local presence for La Viña Wine Bar

La Vina Wine Bar in Galway City

The Business

La Vina is an independent wine bar tucked away on Quay Lane, on the edge of Galway’s Latin Quarter. It offers wine, tapas and a relaxed atmosphere just steps from one of the city’s busiest streets.

The Problem

After undergoing a change of ownership, La Vina’s digital presence had become fragmented across search listings and social media.

Different platforms showed variations of the address, including Lane versus Street and even the supply entrance, making it difficult for customers and search platforms to identify the correct location.

Opening hours and business descriptions were also inconsistent. That can make it harder for search engines and AI systems to determine which information is authoritative.

Behind the Scenes

Legacy Facebook, Instagram and Meta Business accounts were connected in ways that made the current business difficult to manage.

Apple Maps did not recognise Quay Lane at all, complicating the process of establishing an accurate listing and creating a conflict with the Google Maps location.

Individually, each issue appeared relatively small. Together, they created an unclear digital identity that affected how La Vina was found — and how confidently search engines, map platforms and AI tools could understand and recommend the business.

What We Did

We first established one accurate NAP record — Name, Address and Phone number — along with a consistent business description and opening hours.

Using that as the source of truth, we:

  • reviewed and updated La Vina’s Google Business Profile and other major local discovery platforms, including OpenTable and Tripadvisor;

  • aligned business descriptions, opening hours and contact details across social channels;

  • submitted corrections through Apple Business Connect, where the Quay Lane address remains a work in progress;

  • reviewed relevant local and tourism listings and began outreach where business information needed to be corrected or strengthened;

  • untangled legacy Meta connections; and

  • established a streamlined Meta Business Suite setup that can be managed directly by La Vina going forward.

The goal was not to create more marketing channels. It was to make the channels La Vina already had tell the same story.

WIP: The Website

The website remains a separate challenge.

La Vina’s original domain, lavinawinebar.com, currently leads to a website that still says “Opening Soon,” despite the wine bar having been open for more than two years.

The account was registered using an email address that has since been deleted, making recovery of the original website and domain more complicated. Identity and account verification with the original provider are the current next steps.

A second domain, laviñawinebar.com, is accessible to the business. However, relying on a domain containing the ñ creates an additional discoverability issue: many customers will naturally type “lavina” rather than “laviña” when searching or entering the address directly.

For that reason, BeaconWest has prioritised recovering control of the original lavinawinebar.com domain rather than promoting the alternative as the primary website.

Results So Far

La Vina now has a much clearer source of truth for its core business information.

Its name, address, opening hours, description and contact information have been aligned across key customer-facing platforms; its Meta setup has been simplified; incorrect location information has been identified and corrected where possible; and outstanding issues with Apple Maps and the website now have clear next steps.

The work is ongoing, but the business is moving from several conflicting digital identities toward one consistent local presence.

The Takeaway

Being visible online is not simply a matter of having a Google listing, website or social media account.

Those platforms need to agree.

Small differences in an address, business name, opening hours or contact details can accumulate over time — particularly when businesses change owners, suppliers or employees. A regular review helps ensure that customers, search engines, map platforms and AI tools are all finding the same business.

BeaconWest helps businesses identify the gaps between their websites, search listings, maps and social platforms — and connect the information that should already be working together.
